The Power of online Community

There are some communities on the web where people from all over the world collaborate towards helping a soul in need. Now this is pro-bono work and all you get is the gratitude of a person who was in the need for the assistance that your provided. Though the feeling of self-satisfaction makes it very easy to participate in such an endeavor. #SQLHelp hashtag on Twitter is such an example of how small the world is becoming through networking. Here is one of the posts on the hashtag by a SQL Server MVP, Ted Kreuger (Blog | Twitter). He has posted a question through Twitter on the hashtag and he received more than 1 reply within the next 15 minutes.

This use of this hashtag has become so popular among the SQL community worldwide that you can prove a point to doing a live demo during a presentation. If you look up the #sqlhelp hashtag statistics on Archivist, you will realize how active this particular hashtag is where people avoid spamming and posting irrelevant stuff for propaganda.
