GMail Mobile

If you are regularly on the move and need to access your GMail, then Google has the answer for you. Google has recenty come out GMail for Mobile which is a cool little app that lets you check your mail by installing the App on your phone. (*Data charges from your service provider may apply while reading the emails.) This App works pretty well with PDAs also.

This app can be downloaded by visiting from your cellphone browser. There is also another way how you can read your GMail contents using IMAP or POP. You would need to enable IMAP or POP for your mails by changing your mail settings in GMail.

For supported IMAP Client list, click here.
For supported POP Client list, click here.

I have used both POP and the GMail mobile app and found that the GMail mobile app is much *quicker*.

To enable POP in Gmail:

  1. Sign in to Gmail.
  2. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
  3. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
  4. Select Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.
  5. Choose the action you’d like your Gmail messages to take after they are accessed with POP.
  6. Configure your POP client* and click Save Changes.

*To learn about configuring POP access, visit the POP client configuration list.
