Fuel Shortage

Petrol prices increasing wasn’t enough of a bad omen that I needed one more. On Sunday, the petrol bunk nearest to my home refused to fill up my tank due to fuel shortage. Is this Speculation OR Panic Buying OR some other out-of-the-world reason that the fuel nightmares continues to haunt the city of Bangalore (Bengaluru). I might just have to be stuck at home on a weekend or go fill up my tank whenever it’s half full, so that if I needed to drive out on an emergency I was not forced to get hindered due to a NO FUEL condition.

Not that there are enough qualms in the City Life that new ones get added to it!! Hopefully, this is a passing phase!!

P2P for Cell Phones

I spent the last week looking up articles which discussed this. Found one such article which talks about this. If this does become a viable reality, then this would revolutionize the mobile space forever. A concept like this in reality would enable cell phones to share files across multiple devices. Though this does exist in the form of Bluetooth Sharing but extending this to GPRS would definitely take some time due to the resource usage by P2P softwares and moreover the bandwidth issues (which is generally constrained when using GPRS).

This would also open up another can of worms. Your cellphone would now be vulnerable to threats from unscrupulous elements and trojans, viruses etc. might reside on your phone. Formatting a phone and resetting it is not as easy as a desktop OS. So, we would need to have pretty robust security systems when accessing P2P networks over the Net.

I’m sure most of us remember this movie where every who’s who of the elite high society breed had a dig made at them in one form or another.

Well that brings me back to the question: who puts this genre of people on the high pedestal that they are on?? It’s primarily the media and then the Indian junta who are overawed by such class of people. The who’s who of tinsel here to earn money by entertaining the masses. For them, this is a profession. However, among them are a few who manage to draw the crowds due to their personality (nowadays it’s becoming more of rumor & sex quotient).

This infatuation with the glitteratti has become so huge that the number of pages of B’lore times has increased and people are so gossip hungry that this publication manages to publish the same news snippet twice in the same week with different inset pictures. Now that’s a bit of change. Sarcastic Not to mention the spelling & grammatical bloopers they make. Surprised Such a large circulation and such a reputed publishing house, you think they would have heard of spell check. It’s automated you know. Hopefully one of them reads this post.
